Milestones
The rich history of the company goes back to the year 1956. Since then, the engineering office founded by the electrical engineer Friedrich Horst Papenmeier in the field of applied electrical engineering has taken an impressive path to success.
1956
Founded as an engineering office
Good licensing income from an invention and the firm desire to realize new ideas in his own company are the starting capital for the program for Friedrich Horst Papenmeier: Consulting in the field of applied electrical engineering.
1958
The first sight glass
Based on the challenges posed, the engineering office Papenmeier developed the first sight glass in 1958. This patented product is the cornerstone of our Lumiglas business unit.
1959
The control building in 1959 lays the foundation for further development.
1960
Patent Grant "Lumiglas®-Leuchte"
A special luminaire with significant technical and economic advantages lays the foundation for the "Lumiglas" department. In 1960 the patent for a Lumiglas lamp is granted.
April 1965
The number of employees is increasing, but the working atmosphere is already as good as it is today.
Summer 1966
New building on Hoerder Straße
In 1966, the original company building was finally too small for the number of employees and the production. For this reason Papenmeier built the first of his present two company buildings on Hörder Strasse. Here you can see pictures of the different construction phases of this building.
1975
BRAILLEX
BRAILLEX®, the development of a Braille and Speech storage system - a world first - comes to a conclusion and sets the course for the department "RehaTechnik"
1985
The next generation is coming
Günther Papenmeier, eldest son of the company founder, takes over after years of successful work in various industrial companies tasks in the management. In the picture you can see him in 2015 on the occasion of the awarding of the Silver Badge of Honor by the electrical trade.

Department number three
Founding of the department "Electronics" with activity in the (Contract Electronics Manufacturer) CEM market.
1993
Change instead of stagnation
With Armin Papenmeier, the youngest son of the Papenmeier family joins the family business. Here you can see him at the Hannover Messe 2013, where Papenmeier takes part every year.

High-tech made in Schwerte
Hannover Messe, Medica - the leading trade fairs are a big stage for innovations from NRW. On around 600 square meters of floor space, F.H. Papenmeier GmbH & Co. KG presents itself alongside other exhibitors from the fields of higher education, research, business and health under the motto "Industry 4.0" at the NRW regional level.
With the two product groups "inclusive workplace" and "process monitoring", Papenmeier is actively involved in the process chain at the NRW regional community stand and presents its products live to the interested specialist audience.
March 2016
Tested IT accessibility
Papenmeier presented in the week of 14 - 18 March 2016, the newly established competence area Papenmeier Consulting at CeBIT.
